GRAND TETRAS <> REFUGE DE LA BLANCHE par la Mine de Cuivre
19km – A must-do hike in Saint-Véran, quite long but not particularly difficult. The ascent along the mine path is steady. This exposed route requires sun protection if needed (sunscreen, hydration). It follows the main valley towards the Saint-Véran pass (Italian border) with exceptional views of the rocky cliffs on the opposite side. You will pass the remains of the old copper mine, the Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel chapel in Clausis, before reaching the Refuge de la Blanche where you can eat and even stay overnight (reservations required). Even for meals, please remember to reserve/notify us of your arrival by calling 0613712922. This helps with stock management in this remote location. Thank you on their behalf. GRAND TETRAS > REFUGE DE LA BLANCHE par l’Aigue Blanche
9.3 km one-way hike. Variant to the Refuge de la Blanche via the stream at the bottom of the valley. This route adds a little elevation gain, but follows a more wooded path along the riverbank.

REFUGE DE LA BLANCHE <> COL DE SAINT-VERAN
For the adventurous, once you reach the Refuge de la Blanche, head towards the Italian border by climbing to the Col de Saint-Véran. You'll have an incredible view of France, the Italian valleys, and Mont Viso.

GRAND TETRAS <> LA CROIX – CRETE DE CURLET
Go down to the mill bridge, then take the forest path opposite to reach the Cross. You'll see the village of Saint-Véran from the opposite slope. Continue a little further along the Curlet Ridge for a picnic before descending via a slightly different path. Family-friendly hike.

GRAND TETRAS <> OBSERVATOIRE
Reach the observatory in 12km, 4 hours, and 900m of elevation gain (one way) by starting on the Route de la Mine and then taking the uphill path on the right. Accessible by electric mountain bike. Rentals are available in several sports shops in Saint-Véran. The observatory offers winter and summer access, activities, and stargazing nights.
